We had three swimmers who qualified for and competed in the Section 3 Swim championships: Allison Comer in the 500-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle; Emily Comer, in the 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle; and Grace Femano, in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter backstroke. Congratulations to Grace Femano, 2016 Section III 100-meter backstroke champion!
Boys and girls cross-country: The teams have had a great season this year, improving their times and number of top finishers in each race. The boys cross-country team were Liberty League Champions this fall! Both teams participated in the Section 3 Cross-Country Championships at Chittenango. The girls team placed fourth overall in the Sectional Championships. Congratulations to the boys team, the Section 3 Class C Champions for the second year in a row. The sectional championship qualified the boys to compete at the NYSPHSAA championships, where they placed fifth.
Scholar-Athlete teams: The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) honors those teams whose student athletes excel in the classroom. NYSPHSAA has a minimum number of athletes on each team whose first quarter average must be used to calculate the team GPA. Teams with a GPA of 90 percent and higher qualify as Scholar Athlete teams, and the individual students that contributed to the team GPA are recognized with a scholar athlete pin. Congratulations to the following Marcellus teams named Scholar Athlete Teams for Fall 2016:
- Girls soccer
- Boys soccer
- Girls tennis
- Girls volleyball
- Girls cross-country
- Boys cross-country
