June 1, 2017 -- The search for a new, permanent principal at K.C. Heffernan Elementary School has entered its final stages.
Marcellus received a total of 42 applications for the position to lead the 430-student, K-3 building. The pool was culled to 15 candidates. After a series of screening interviews, the list was further narrowed to three finalists, who were being interviewed today by parent, staff and administrative committees. Next, feedback from the committees will help the district winnow the applicant pool to one or two finalists to deliver presentations at a June 6 faculty meeting.
Superintendent of Schools Michelle L. Brantner hopes to deliver a final appointment recommendation to the Board of Education at its June 19 meeting.
“I’m very pleased with the pool we have,” Ms. Brantner said. “These are three exceptional finalists.”
Whoever is selected will replace former Principal Gary Bissaillon, who recently accepted an elementary school principal post with Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School District.
