June 19, 2017 -- Congratulations to the 24 students from Marcellus High School who were inducted into the National French and Spanish Honor Societies this spring.
The French students included: Noel Burkett, Hanna Dellostritto, Lauren Lundrigan and Kailey Young.
The Spanish students included: Emily Alexander, Olivia Bird, Mary Colella, Alyssa Cook, Trisha Curtin, Mikayla Cusick, Samantha DiMarco, Lily Henson, Quinn Kinsella, Katherine Locastro, Rebecca Nutting, John O’Hara, Patrick O’Hara, Rachel Randall, Madison Riccardi, Julia Stowell, Paige Tomeny, Briyana Vanhelsdingen, Daniel Wrona and Lauren Young.
In order to be eligible for induction, students must earn a 90 or above average for each year of language study. Furthermore, they must continue their language coursework throughout their entire high school career. Finally, all eligible candidates must be approved by the language committee, comprised of faculty and administration.
“This is a complete honor and these students should be commended for all of their hard work,” high school language teacher Shelly Marsh said.
Next year, this group will focus on promoting French and Spanish cultures into the community, as well as maintaining their academic achievement.
