Oct. 23, 2017 -- This week, please join the administration, faculty and staff of Marcellus Central School District in recognizing the six members of this community who have taken on an awesome responsibility: overseeing the education of our children as members of the Board of Education.
Oct. 23-27 is School Board Recognition Week in New York state.
Did you know school board members are unpaid volunteers who:
complete mandatory training in fiscal oversight and governance skills;
take time away from their families to attend early morning and evening meetings that can go into the night;
set the direction of the school district to achieve the highest student performance;
provide accountability for student achievement results; and
develop a budget and present it to the community?
“We are so fortunate to have people in our community who care enough to step up to the plate for our kids,” Superintendent of Schools Michelle L. Brantner said. “Thank you, board members, for all you do.”
If you see David Locastro, Janine Lundrigan, Michael McAuliff, Patty Sager, Margie Vensel or Thomas West this week, be sure to give them a wave and say, “Thank you!”
