Board of Education Update

The following is an update from Superintendent Jean Sharlow on August 8, 2025.

Dear Mustang Families:

Hope you are enjoying these beautiful months of summer!

Mr. Josh Matousek has served on the Marcellus Central School District Board of Education since 2022.  He recently ran for re-election and was successful in securing another term.  Mr. Matousek and his wife Kelli have been planning a business venture that they anticipated launching sometime in the distant future. As fate would have it, their timeline was quickly advanced this summer when a space for their business opened up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where they hoped to relocate.  

Thus, Mr. Matousek has formally and regretfully resigned from the Marcellus Schools Board of Education. In his letter, he expressed great appreciation for the experience he had not only as a Board member, but also as a member of this incredible community.  He hopes to find a community as amazing as Marcellus when his family relocates down south in the coming weeks.  We are grateful for Mr. Matousek’s service these past several years. 

The Board will be discussing their options for replacement of Mr. Matousek at the Monday, August 11th Board meeting.
