Schools on 1-hour delay Monday; only staff report Tuesday and Wednesday
March 15, 2020 -- To give faculty and staff a chance to meet and prepare for the upcoming dismissal of students, Marcellus Central School District will operate on a ONE-HOUR DELAY for students only on Monday, March 16. Once students arrive after the delay, they will be given materials that will help them prepare for the weeks to come of learning from home.
Tuesday, March 17, and Wednesday, March 18, will be staff-only days to allow staff adequate time to prepare continuing instruction, and then students AND staff will report Thursday, March 19. Based on the county executive order, schools will remain open until 4 p.m. Friday, and then close until April 14.
We will be reaching out directly to Marcellus families who depend on school meals for their children to provide more information about how those meals will be provided during the school closure.
Marcellus will continue to provide updates in a variety of forms, including School Messenger, letters and posts on the COVID-19 page on the district website (look for the big red banner on the home page). Also, we ask anyone who has not been receiving emails from the district to please use this link to give us your current email address.
“On behalf of the Marcellus administrative team and staff, we truly appreciate all of your support during this challenging time,” Superintendent Michelle Brantner said. “We will be posting questions and answers to the COVID-19 web page. If your questions still are not answered, please reach out to a member of the team, and we will be sure to get back to you.”
